The website offers a radio and a blog that is very helpful in learning information about questions or concerns from a parent and an administrative point of view. One article that stood out that made me think was " Is Standardized Testing Creating a Creativity Crisis? The article talks about students failing due to problems with critical thinking and problem solving skills.
All of the information in the newsletter is very helpful to the me, because I am a volunteer in a program that is much needed in the communities. Valerie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the additional insight on the website for the National Head Start Association. I always thought that it was for families and educators who were involved in Head Start. I know have been given more knowledge and have explored the website further, finding an abundance of materials that will be useful in my field.
Head start is such a great program. I have heard such wonderful things from people who have participated in the program, as well as don some great research on all of the great things they do. I think the reason I am so fascinated with head start is their desire to not only help the students but the parents as well. As you stated in the post, they offer training for parents and they all sound amazing. I did not know that we could go. But since you mentioned you have been attending, I think I am going to check one out in the near future.
